Alternative Camp respects Human Rights! Human rights refer to the concept of human beings as having universal rights, or status, regardless of legal jurisdiction, and likewise other localizing factors, such as ethnicity and nationality Universal Declaration of Human Rights recognizes that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights, and everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in the Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.
Volunteerism Alternative Camp is based on principles of volunteerism which is the willingness of people to work on behalf of others without the expectation of pay or other tangible gain. Volunteers may have special training as rescuers, guides, assistants, and teachers. The vast majority work on an impromptu basis, recognising a need and filling it.
Non-Profit Organization
Alternative Camp is a non-profit organization! A non-profit organization is an organization whose primary objective is to support some issue or matter of private interest or public concern for non-commercial purposes. Although non-profits do not operate to generate profit they still need to generate revenue inorder to finance their activities.
Non-Governmental Organization
Alternative Camp is a non-governmental organization! The World Bank defines Non governmental organizations (NGOs) as "private organizations that pursue activities to relieve suffering, promote the interests of the poor, protect the environment, provide basic social services, or undertake community development" In wider usage, the term NGO can be applied to any non-profit organization which is independent from government. NGOs are typically value-based organizations which depend, in whole or in part, on charitable donations and voluntary service. Although the NGO sector has become increasingly professionalized over the last two decades, principles of altruism and voluntarism remain key defining characteristics.
Discrimination
Alternative Camp rejects discrimination which is to make a distinction between people on the basis of class or category without regard to invidual merit. Social, racial, sexual, religous, disability, ethnic and age-related discrimination are some forms of discrimination.
Equal Opportunity
Alternative Camp supports equal opportunity for all, which is a descriptive term for an approach intended to give equal access to an environment or benefits, such as education, employment, health care, or social welfare to all, often with emphasis on members of various social groups which might have at some time suffered from discrimination.
Social Awareness
Social awareness is being aware of social issues and having social responsibilities towards these social issues. Alternative Camp strives to create social awareness.
Internationalism
Internationalism is international cooperation, Alternative Camp is founded on the principles of basic international human rights and carries this motto in terms of promoting international participation in the camp and helping to build international relations among volunteers and guests as a way of social integration.
Integration
Alternative Camp is targeted at socially disadvantaged groups that are left on the margins of society and the activities in the camp and the social interactions among guests and volunteers aim to achieve integration of these sociall disadvantaged groups into the society, to help them become more productive.
Positive encouragement
Positive encouragement means that everyone if given the opportunity can discover hobbies and talents they weren’t aware of, Alternative Camp tries to match people’s interests and tries to encourage its guests to discover new talents.
Healthy Life
Healthy life is healthy food habits, sleeping habits, working habits and sports are integral parts of a healthy life. At Alternative Camp all these healthy habits are encouraged.
Popular Culture
Popular culture is referring to the lifestyle that mainstream media encourages is discouraged by Alternative Camp. Smoking, alcohol addiction and other habits such as lots of hours of tv are constituents of an unhealthy way of life.
Alternative Thinking
Alternative thinking is providing alternative solutions to problems. Alternative Camp creates an environment to come up with alternative solutions.
